A. MAKING DECISIONS
Key objective: to help choose and use appropriate operations and
efficient calculation strategies.
The activities in this section require the child to choose and
use the following five basic mathematical symbols in a wide variety
of contexts: +, -, x, / and =.
He or she will also have to decide if the calculation can be done
mentally or if additional apparatus such as counters, a number line,
a multiplication square or pencil and paper are required.
A sound knowledge in the following mathematical areas will also
help him or her to successfully complete the various exercises:

addition facts to 10 + 10

subtraction facts for numbers less than 20

table facts for the 2, 5 and 10 times tables
-
division facts for the 2, 5 and 10 times tables
-
addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of three
single-digit numbers.
