The aim of these interactive materials
is simple: to provide you with a clear and complete understanding
of what transformations are, what they do and the effect they have
on simple shapes. You will do this using dynamic interactive geometry.
This unit: Rotations
The aim of this unit is to provide you with a complete and clear
understanding of rotations and their effects on simple shapes. You
will do this using dynamic interactive geometry. You will be able
to change the diagrams yourself using the mouse and see the effect
these changes have on points, lines and shapes.
To work through this unit, use either the coloured grid or the
navigation bar at the bottom of each page. Moving down the
grid changes the topic to something a little harder, moving left
or right changes a small aspect of the topic.
shows where you are.
The navigation bar at the bottom of each page is linear, it starts
at the top left of the coloured grid, by clicking the forward button,
you will progress through the pages from left to right.
Once you come to the end of each row the navigation progresses to
the start of the next line down and so on...
You can work through this unit in any order you like, but remember
the tasks at the top of the coloured grid will be easier than those
at the bottom, so you may not be able to do those harder ones if
you have not done many earlier tasks. Be systematic. Once you've
tried most of these tasks you should have a firm grasp of the mathematics
of rotations.
Please note that the very first topic you choose may take a little
time to load, but all later topics will load much more quickly.
Please be patient! See the Tech page
for more details about this.
The activities within this unit will not work on Netscape Navigator
when using Apple computers, Internet Explorer must be used instead.
