Construction

{short description of image}

The aim of these resources is simple: to enable you to develop your skills of geometrical construction. You will be able build shapes out of points, lines and circles and change the diagrams yourself using the mouse to see the effect these changes have.

To begin, select one of the tutorials from the menu below (either Foundation, Intermediate or Advanced), then use the coloured grid to navigate your way through each task. Moving down the grid changes the topic to something a little harder, moving left or right within a grid changes a small aspect of the topic. A cross through the box:  you are here  shows where you are.

This unit also contains a section dedicated to the 48 propositions from Euclid's Elements, many of which you can try constructing yourself using interactive geometry, along with sections on sacred geometry, circle-only constructions, transformations, the 'hidden world' of triangles and the three classical problems from Greek geometry. Also included is a brief history of the development of geometry along with links to useful websites, and a section which helps you identify what each of the interactive geometry buttons allows you to do.
