To produce seeds the pollen must reach the female part of another flower. This process is called pollination. The pollen grains are transferred to other flowers by the wind, by insects and by birds. The pollen attaches itself to the stigma which has a sticky surface. After pollination the pollen grain grows a special tube which joins up with the egg cells. These cells then become a seed.
